Inhalation Sedation

Carolina Bermudez from the Z100 Elvis Duran and the Morning Show was sedated with nitrous oxide to have a tooth removed and the extraction socket grafted with bone.

To promote a safe and gentle feeling of relaxation and to aid you in becoming stress-free as quickly as possible during your dental visit, we offer nitrous oxide. Also known as laughing gas or relative analgesia, our patients can experience a calming sedative effect simply by breathing this gas through a small nasal mask.

Once nitrous oxide has been inhaled, patients can expect a comfortable euphoric effect that almost instantly makes the visit more tolerable. Most patients report a slightly sweet smell or taste when under the influence of the gas, and many are able to remain awake and alert throughout the procedure.

During surgical and extensive dental procedures, nitrous oxide is typically selected due to its anesthetic and/or analgesic properties. This form of sedation may be used in combination with other forms of sedation or anesthesia to achieve the level of comfort that is necessary for each patient.

At the conclusion of the dental visit, nitrous oxide can be completely eliminated from your system as you begin to breathe oxygen-rich air again.

During your visit, you can be assured that Dr. Gottesman and Dr. Karabin have taken the appropriate steps to ensure your safety, monitor your vital signs, and enhance your level of comfort, all while providing you with the top-level dental care that you deserve.

We invite you to contact our office for more information or to schedule an appointment today.

Oral Conscious Sedation & IV Sedation

Even the most extraordinary periodontal and dental implant procedures can be enhanced when the patient is relaxed and stress-free. As the patient, when you feel calm and relaxed, even the lengthiest dental or surgical procedures become more tolerable.

Many of our dental procedures can be completed with the aid of various forms of sedation. According to the particular procedure, the current status of your health, and your desired level of comfort, Dr. Karabin and Dr. Gottesman can recommend the form of sedation that is best for you.

What is Oral Conscious Sedation?

With the help of commonly prescribed medications and/or nitrous oxide (laughing gas), even the most anxious patient can achieve deep levels of relaxation during dental treatment. Many fearful or nervous patients find that they can enjoy a brief nap or even forget the details of the procedure as a result of the sedative effect.

What is IV Sedation?

Technically known as intravenous sedation, this technique offers a profound and powerful sedative effect. When medications are safely administered in the form of IV fluids, patients can achieve an ultimate level of comfort while retaining little or no memory of the actual procedure. Whether you elect to utilize oral conscious sedation or IV sedation, the details of the procedure will be discussed in advance, and you will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult until your treatment is complete.

The ability to offer sedation dentistry is a responsibility that Dr. Karabin and Dr. Gottesman take very seriously. This responsibility requires additional and ongoing certification, training, and an in-depth understanding of pharmacology and vital sign monitoring. In addition to helping you to overcome anxiety in the dental office, your safety is our highest priority.

It would be our pleasure to provide you with outstanding periodontal surgical and dental implant care while you relax comfortably in the dental chair. Contact our office today to discuss your options for sedation dentistry.

……….

My primary dentist referred me to Dr Gottesman because I needed several extractions. Complicated to me but a breeze to him which made my experience so extraordinary. He was very careful to explain the procedure and ensure that I understood plus the follow up steps. And he called me later to make sure I was feeling great…which I was! Really, no pain. No PAIN!!!

……….

Dr. Gottesman is a perfectionist and settles for nothing less than the best. All of the procedures were virtually painless; the post-surgery care (medication, directions, check-up phone calls) were excellent and reassuring.

……….

A tooth extraction can sometimes be anxiety provoking and maybe a bit scary… NOT with Dr. Gottesman!!! As soon as he walks into the operatory, Dr. Gotessman puts you completely at ease with his cheerful and comforting demeanor.
